Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson was born on June 19, 1964, in New York City, USA, to British parents. He grew up in a well-educated family with a strong political and academic background. Johnson has three siblings and spent parts of his childhood in the United States, Brussels, and the United Kingdom, reflecting his international upbringing.
Boris Johnson attended Eton College, one of Britain’s most prestigious schools, and later studied Classics at Balliol College, Oxford. During his time at Oxford, he served as president of the Oxford Union, showcasing his talent for debate and leadership. After graduation, he pursued a career in journalism, working for publications such as The Times and The Daily Telegraph, and later became the editor of The Spectator.
Johnson entered politics in 2001 as the Member of Parliament for Henley. He rose to prominence as the Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016, introducing popular initiatives like the “Boris Bikes” cycling scheme and successfully overseeing the 2012 London Olympics. Later, he served as Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 before becoming the leader of the Conservative Party in 2019.
In July 2019, Boris Johnson became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, succeeding Theresa May. His tenure was marked by two major events: completing Brexit and navigating the COVID-19 pandemic. While he achieved his goal of leading the UK out of the European Union, his leadership faced controversy over his handling of the pandemic and the “Partygate” scandal, which eventually led to his resignation in 2022.
After stepping down as Prime Minister and later as an MP, Johnson returned to writing and public speaking. Known for his charismatic personality, wit, and sometimes controversial style, he remains a significant figure in British politics. He has authored several books, including The Churchill Factor, and continues to influence public debate in the UK.
